Selma W. “S.W.” Spalding, Jr., 96, of Macon, IL passed away on Friday (July 8, 2011) at Moweaqua Nursing & Retirement Center.
 
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday (July 12, 2011) at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Macon. Visitation will be from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Tuesday. Odd Fellows funeral rites will be at 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in South Macon Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Macon Presbyterian Church. Mr. Spalding was born on November 3, 1914 in rural Macon, the son of Selma W. and Icy B. (Renfro) Spalding, Sr. He was a retired farmer and a member of Macon Presbyterian Church, Master Mason for 56 years with South Macon Masonic Lodge No. 467, I.O.O.F. #300 Mt. Zion and the Macon County Farm Bureau. He was crowned Corn Prince of Illinois in the 1930’s, following in his father’s footsteps who was crowned Corn King of Illinois. He married Hazel A. Wiles on December 31, 1936. She preceded him in death on May 4, 1996. He then married Eva Ream in December of 1996. She preceded him in death on June 8, 2010.
 
Surviving is his daughter: Nancy (Paul) Shearer of Moweaqua, IL; special niece: Suzanne (Jerry) Collins of Moweaqua, IL; sister: Helen Kothe of Glendale, CA; grandchildren: Brian Shearer of Cincinnati, OH and Brett (Lacy) Shearer of Assumption, IL; great grandchildren: Ethan, Evan, Alexander, Brogan, Halle and Bodey.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, one brother and three sisters.
